Shannon Hughes has an extensive background in the design field. He was raised and schooled just outside of Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by the design world. Shannon’s mother and an aunt were interior designers. While in school studying business, Shannon worked as a visual merchandiser which lead him into the world of design.
After moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1992, Shannon began apprenticing with a design firm in Jacksonville and later in Fernandina, Florida. Those positions gave him the hands on experience that lead him to be a self employed designer. Over the years he gained strong experience in the design/build aspect of residential design. Drafting and furniture design came with that job. Eventually floral design and event planning crept in for several of his clients, which led him into those fields for a short period, working with a Jacksonville based company.
Shannon’s love of the outdoors often inspires his personal art, which manifests itself in many mediums. The love of horticulture also is family derived. His sister owns Arkansas Natural Produce. A 30+ year old organic produce farm near Hot Springs, Arkansas. His study and work on his sister’s farm and experience at Cripple Creek Farm in Glenn St. Mary, Florida, cultivated a strong interest in the agriculture field.
To Shannon, Landscape design is relative to creating rooms in a home.
